Types of harmonies, or, What is the difference between hromka and turtle?

Harmony is one of the favorite musical instruments of the Russian people. It is believed that the very first accordion was invented in Germany, but the Germans themselves are confident of the Russian origin of this keyboard and pneumatic instrument. In this article we will look at some types of harmonies that are popular in our country.

Loud: Can it play a chromatic scale?

Many Russians associate the word “accordion” with hromka. Some people who are "savvy" from a musical point of view are surprised by one fact: the sound range of the chrome is based on the major scale, and the harmonica is called chromatic. It does not play all the bemoles or sharps, but still there are 3 semitones in the upper right corner of the keyboard.

There are several varieties of hromka, the most famous of which are Nizhny Novgorod hromka, Kirillovskaya hromka and Vyatka hromka. They all have the same design, but the sound of each of these varieties is different, unique. Therefore, they are very easy to distinguish by ear.

Tula one-order: it turns out, the sound is not the same when the fur is stretched and compressed ...

If we take all the kinds of harmonicas that exist today, the Tula single row clearly stands out from the general range, this is everyone’s favorite, folk instrument. The sound capabilities of most harmonies are determined by the interval structure of the scale, but in the case of the Guest from Tula, the determining factor is correlation with the movement of the fur.

Tula odnoryadka has many varieties, the main difference between each of them - the number of buttons on the keyboard of the right and left hands. The most popular option is the accordion with 7 buttons on the keyboard of the right hand and 2 buttons on the keyboard of the left hand.

Yelets accordion: accordion-semi-accordion?

Some kinds of harmonies are not such "in their pure form", one of the examples of such a tool is the Yelets accordion. It cannot be called a "purebred" accordion, since it is considered to be the direct ancestor of the accordion. The right keyboard of the instrument has flat and sharp, that is, a full chromatic scale. The left keyboard can be called a portable fingerboard with chords and bass keys.

For all the time of its development, and the first Yelets accordion appeared in the distant 19th century, its functional part and appearance changed. But one thing has always remained the same - great musical and technical capabilities.

Turtle: lovers of small harmonicas

The main feature of the tool is its compact size. The first versions of the Turtle had no more than 7 keys, the range of more modern variants increased due to the expansion of the keyboard to 10 keys. Story accordion - diatonic, with the compression and expansion of the bellows there are different sounds.

There are several varieties of Turtle: "with four keys", "Nevsky's Turtle" and "Warsaw's Turtle". The last option is considered the most modern, all keys corresponding to tongues and melodies are transferred from the left keyboard to the right one.

These and other varieties of harmonies, such as the Russian "wreath", Taglia, Pskov rezuha and others, were, are and remain the favorite tools of Russian residents, despite the fact that more than 150 years have passed since the appearance of the harmonies!
